Soldier reported hurt in infiltration attempt
An IDF soldier is said to be lightly injured in an attempt by Gazan terrorists to infiltrate the Zikim army base in the northern Negev.
Israeli troops reportedly killed the two armed Palestinians, members of a Gazan terror cell. Media reports indicate the two were killed in a firefight with Israeli troops.
The base is located a few kilometers from the northwestern edge of Gaza Strip.
Area residents are being asked to stay indoors until further notice.
Meanwhile, police forces are being deployed in great numbers to the area to prevent infiltration attempts from the Gaza Strip into Israel.
The road connecting Zikim to Ashkelon has been closed to traffic.
