US President Donald Trump claims he doesn’t care if talks with Iran collapse after state media in Tehran reported that the Islamic Republic may pull out of negotiations if Israeli attacks in Lebanon continue.

“I don’t care if they’re over, honestly… I really don’t care. I couldn’t care less,” Trump tells CNBC in a snap interview with a reporter phoning his personal cell phone.

In a separate call moments earlier with NBC, Trump claimed Iran hadn’t even informed the US of its readiness to abandon talks and that even if such a message does get passed along, it wouldn’t mean that Washington would start bombing Iran.

Trump also tells CNBC that he was planning to ask Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “What’s going on with Lebanon,” where Israel has intensified strikes and military operations against Hezbollah. The terror group has continued its own attacks on Israeli civilian and military positions, partially in response to the growing buffer zone that the IDF has established in southern Lebanon.

Hebrew media reports that the Trump-Netanyahu call has since taken place.

Trump again claims that oil prices will drop when the war ends, telling CNBC, “I think the oil will be dropping like a rock in the very near distance.”
