In the latest incidents of violence within Arab Israeli communities, four people were killed Wednesday, including a woman and a teen slain in apparently unrelated incidents in the northern town of Baqa al-Gharbiya.

A 23-year old man was shot dead in the morning in the predominantly Arab city of Tira, in central Israel and a man in his 40’s was killed in a drive-by shooting in Lod. Another man was lightly wounded in that incident.

Arab parliamentarians and civil society organizations have repeatedly decried the deadly plague of violence in their communities, where firearms and organized crime proliferate. They’ve accused Israeli authorities of failing to stem the tide of violence.

A 40-year-old woman was shot dead in the Bir neighborhood of Baqa al-Gharbiya in what police described as a “violent altercation.”

Paramedics who were called to the site of the incident performed resuscitation on the woman but were forced to declare her dead at the scene, the Magen David Adom ambulance service said in a statement.

The shooters fled the scene. Police have opened an investigation into the incident and were searching the area for the perpetrators.

In what appeared to be a separate incident, Magen David Adom said that 10-minutes prior to the call regarding the shooting, they received a report of a 14-year-old in serious condition after being hit by a car outside a mosque in the town.

The ambulance service said that medics also tried to revive him but were unsuccessful.

Shortly after the incident, a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving the offending vehicle, police said.

Just before midnight Wednesday, two men were wounded in an apparent drive-by shooting in Lod, Magen David Adom said. Both were taken to hospital, with one in a serious condition and the other lightly hurt.

The seriously injured man, 42, later died of his wounds, the Assaf Harofeh Medical Center said. Police said they were investigating the killing.

Police were also investigating a suspected murder of a man shot dead earlier Wednesday in nearby Tira.

The victim, 23-year-old Nawwaf Haj Ashqarani, was rushed to Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba in critical condition and was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

Additionally, police said they have opened an investigation into the fatal Tuesday shooting of Adam Ziad Amon, a 20-year-old resident of the northern town of Yarka. Amon was rushed in critical condition to the Galil medical center in the northern city of Nahariyya, where doctors pronounced him dead.

On Saturday,17-year-old Itai Yitzhak was killed in a fight in the northern village of Muqeible. According to Hebrew media reports, a fight broke out between teens from Muqeible and the nearby village of Gan Ner. Yitzhak was fatally injured with a sharp object during the brawl.
