Six weeks after Coldplay denied reports that it plans to come to Israel in November for two special “peace concerts” for Israelis and Palestinians, the British band’s leader Chris Martin is currently in Israel finalizing plans for the shows, Israeli TV reported Friday.
Martin is visiting Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Jericho and Rawabi to finalize venues for the shows, set for early November, Channel 2 said. It claimed tickets for the shows would go on sale soon.
A representative of the band told Rolling Stone magazine in January that an earlier report on the shows was false.
Channel 2 had reported that unprecedented joint concerts were scheduled for November 3 and November 4, at an outdoor location north of the Dead Sea, and that tickets would be sold both in Israel and in the Palestinian territories.
Martin came to Israel in late 2016, directly from Mumbai, where the band headlined the Global Citizen Festival.
