Afghan teen soccer star killed by plane landing gear while trying to escape
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleA member of Afghanistan’s national youth soccer team was killed aboard a US Air Force C-17 that took off from Kabul earlier this week, according to multiple reports.
Zaki Anwari, 19, was not one of the people seen falling from the plane as it took off. Rather, he attempted to hide in the aircraft’s wheel well and was crushed when the landing gear retracted after takeoff.
His remains were discovered by American crewmen after the plane landed.
