The assailant who carried out a ramming attack at the Einav checkpoint near Tulkarem earlier was a junior officer in the Palestinian Authority’s Tulkarem police, identified as Abd al-Rahman Mahza Abu al-Rub, a security source tells The Times of Israel.
He held a rank equivalent to a lieutenant.
Earlier, the IDF said a suspect attempted to ram troops at the Einav junction in the Tulkarem area of the West Bank. He was shot dead by soldiers. No troops were injured.
