High Court petition demands that Gazans stuck in Israel be released to West Bank

A High Court of Justice petition has been filed on behalf of hundreds of Gaza residents who were legally staying in Israel during Hamas’s October 7 assault and became stuck in the Jewish state, the Kan public broadcaster reports.

The petition, filed by the Gisha and HaMoked rights groups, reportedly demands that the 568 Gazans they say are currently being held in detention facilities be transferred to the West Bank or at least be allowed to meet their families.

The petition demands that Israeli authorities let the families know where they are and what their exact status is.

High Court Justice Ruth Ronen gives the state until next Wednesday to submit its response, Kan adds.
