The IDF says that following the identification of approximately 15 Hamas operatives who attempted to escape underground terror infrastructure in the Rafah area earlier today, the chief of the Southern Command Maj. Gen. Yaniv Asor, the chief of the Gaza Division, Brig. Gen. Barak Hiram and additional commanders conducted a situational assessment in the field and approved future plans.
Alongside the announcement, the military also releases footage showing the gunmen’s attempts to escape through the tunnels.
In its initial report, the IDF said an airstrike killed six of the operatives, while the Nahal Brigade captured five more on the ground.
IDF troops continue to scan the area from the air and on the ground to locate the additional terrorists, the military says.
