IDF strikes Iranian air defenses near Caspian Sea with aim to expand air superiority

Stav Levaton is a military reporter for The Times of Israel

The IDF says it carried out a strike yesterday on Iranian air defense systems near the Caspian Sea in northern Iran, more than 1,600 kilometers (some 1,000 miles) from Israel, as part of ongoing efforts to expand its aerial superiority over Iran.

According to the military, Israeli Air Force jets targeted the site – which was concealed in a forested area – during a wave of airstrikes yesterday, hitting systems it says posed a threat to its aircraft.
