Netanyahu to brief Lapid on security issues for first time in months — PM’s office

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Opposition Leader Yair Lapid will meet this evening for a security discussion, the Prime Minister’s Office confirms to The Times of Israel, following Hebrew media reports on the matter.

The last meeting between the two took place on April 15.

The leader of the opposition is traditionally briefed once a month by the prime minister on sensitive national security issues, although Netanyahu and Lapid have not kept to this schedule.

The meeting is set amid stalled US-Iran negotiations, ongoing talks between Israel and Lebanon on disarming Hezbollah, and Netanyahu’s meeting this week with Board of Peace officials on advancing Washington’s postwar plan for Gaza.
