Police and Navy forces have carried out a controlled demolition of a large munition that was identified at sea, close to the coast of Haifa.

Police say they cleared the area of civilians before detonating the suspicious object.

It is unclear when the munition landed there, or what type it was.

Videos posted to social media show the blast.
