US President Donald Trump is considering launching a special ground operation to extract 1,000 pounds of uranium from Iran to prevent the Islamic Republic from building a nuclear weapon, US officials tell the Wall Street Journal.
Trump has not yet made a final decision on the matter as he is weighing the risk to troops, US officials say.
The article references Iran’s “400 kilograms of 60% highly enriched uranium, and nearly 200 kilograms of 20% fissile material, which is easily converted into 90%-weapons-grade uranium.”
