WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump would be interested in having Arab countries pay the US for the war in Iran, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt says during a briefing.
A reporter at a briefing recalls how Arab states helped foot much of the American bill for the Gulf War in the 1990s and asks whether the US would like to see that happen again.
“It’s something the president would be quite interested in calling them to do,” Leavitt responds.
“I won’t get ahead of him on that, but certainly it’s an idea that I know he has and something that I think you’ll hear more from him on,” she adds.
