The Jerusalem District Court announces prison sentences for two East Jerusalemites accused of planning a terror bombing near the Knesset.

Mustafa Abd Al-Nabi is sentenced to 12 years behind bars, while Ahmad Natasha gets five years plus a suspended sentence, according to a statement from the State Prosecutor’s Office.

The statement says the pair planned to detonate a truck bomb filled with gas tanks near the Knesset, regularly watched Islamic State (ISIS) videos featuring religious sermons, beheadings and executions, and swore allegiance to the terror group.

One of them purchased relevant materials and tried to make an explosive device, while the other tried to supply him with the needed substances and tools, according to prosecutors. They also tried to recruit accomplices.

The two were arrested before they could carry out any attacks.

The defendants argued that they hadn’t planned to harm anyone and it was all “empty talk,” arguments that weren’t accepted by the judges.

They have been convicted of aggravated preparation to commit a terror attack, attempted use of weapons for terror purposes, conspiring to commit an act of terror, conspiring to use weapons as an act of terror, providing guidance or training for terror acts, and membership in a terror group.
