Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met this evening with the family of Haymanut Kasau, a young Ethiopian girl who went missing nearly two years ago and whose fate has attracted major public attention, his office says.

Meeting with the girl’s parents in his office, Netanyahu vows to get “personally” involved in the case.

“We will bring her home,” he tells them.

Kasau was last seen in February 2024 at a Safed absorption center, where she lived with her family at the time.

Her case was recently transferred to the Lahav 433 major crimes unit immediately following a supposed breakthrough, which turned out to be spurious.

Police arrested a man in December suspected of trying to abduct another young Ethiopian girl from her home in Beersheba. The girl and her family had lived at the same absorption center as Kasau, briefly leading police to believe the suspect may be linked to her disappearance, but the suspicion has been ruled out.
