A bomb blew up in a car in the central town of Rehovot Monday morning, seriously injuring its passengers, a father and son.
The unnamed men, 47 and 22, were driving in the Kfar Gavriel neighborhood of the city at about 10 a.m. when the bomb went off. Police and rescue services rushed to the scene and found the father suffering from multiple internal injuries and the son badly burned.
The two, who were taken to the city’s Kaplan Hospital for treatment, were said to have criminal affiliations.
Police said that the attack appeared to have been an attempted hit by criminals rather than a terror attack. They said they had yet to apprehend any suspects.
In April, a 20-year-old man was shot dead and another man moderately injured as they stood on Herzl Street in the city.
