Lawmakers from the Agudat Yisrael faction of United Torah Judaism will join their Degel HaTorah counterparts and resign from the coalition and government, Jerusalem Affairs Minister Meir Porush says.

In a statement published by his office, Porush says the decision to resign was made after viewing the new Haredi conscription bill this evening, which he says does not “satisfy the demands” of the faction and its spiritual leaders.

With both factions of UTJ gone, Aryeh Deri’s Shas party will be the sole ultra-Orthodox faction in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.
