Witness claims he tried to wave over law enforcement for several minutes after spotting shooter
BBC interviews a man who says he tried for several minutes to seek help from local police and the Secret Service after seeing a man with a long rifle army crawling up the roof of one of the buildings overlooking the Trump rally in Pennsylvania.
The man says he had been holding a party near the rally and decided to get closer to the perimeter in order to listen to Trump speak when he spotted the shooter. The witness says he managed to get the attention of police and Secret Service members and that he then began pointing at the shooter on the roof so that law enforcement could intervene.
However, neither police nor Secret Service could see the shooter from where they were standing, the witness says.
After several minutes, the man on the roof opened fire. Almost immediately thereafter, the Secret Service managed to return fire and kill the shooter, the witness tells BBC.
“Why is there not Secret Service on all of these roofs? the witness wonders. “This is not a big place.”
