Ever since we launched Times of Israel Presents, the live events in English that have gotten Jerusalem all fired up, there has been overwhelming demand to bring the series to Tel Aviv.
And now it’s happening — on June 15.
This first Tel Aviv event will feature Avigdor Liberman, Israel’s defense minister and head of the Israel Beytenu party.
It’s a rare coup to hear Liberman speaking in English to the general public here in Israel, and we’re grateful to our partners at the Tel Aviv International Salon for making it happen.
The event will take place at Hangar 11 in the Tel Aviv Port. If you want to secure a seat you should move fast — the venue holds around 1,000 people but the International Salon’s events have a habit of selling out. You can book tickets HERE.
This reporter will be asking Liberman the questions you want answered: What is the defense minister doing to guarantee Israel’s long-term security? How should Israel understand the threat from Iran’s nuclear program, Hezbollah’s rockets, the bloody civil war in Syria, the creeping influence of Islamic State, and Palestinian terrorism? How do you maintain Israel as a secure and democratic society without endangering its core values or very existence? And what makes Liberman, a central figure in Israeli politics for more than two decades, tick?
Audience members will have the opportunity to query Liberman as well during the question and answer session.
The evening with the defense minister will inaugurate a new phase for The Times of Israel Presents as we extend our events to Tel Aviv and beyond. In the coming weeks, we’ll be offering a variety of films, theater and live interviews featuring the very best of Israeli culture and public life.
Meanwhile, our program in Jerusalem continues with authors Jessica Steinberg (Culture Editor at The Times of Israel) and Shirley Graetz on June 19; and former US ambassador Dan Shapiro on July 2.
