After budget chief quits, Bank of Israel chief calls for swift passage of budget for 2021
Bank of Israel Governor Amir Yaron also weighs in on Shaul Meridor’s resignation as head of the Treasury’s budget department.
“I thank Shaul for his many years of work and am sure the Finance Ministry will swiftly appoint a worthy replacement,” Yaron is quoted saying by the Kan public broadcaster.
He adds: “Israel’s credit rating doesn’t depend on one person or another, as senior as he may be. Therefore, without any connection this incident, it’s important the government approve an ordered budget for 2021 as soon as possible.”
