Police opened a probe into a suspected arson attack on an officer’s home in the northern town of Rehaniya in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The Ynet news site reported that the police officer is involved in investigations of criminal protection rackets.

Fire and Rescue Services said they put out the fire at the two-story house, where the cop, his wife, his children, and his parents reside.

There were no injuries in the blaze, but heavy damage was caused to the building.

Police said they are pursuing two suspects, and are investigating the suspected arson together with the Shin Bet security service.

Channel 13 news published an image of two suspects carrying gasoline tanks as they approach the home.

A neighbor tried to pursue the suspected assailants, but they escaped.
