French authorities have revealed that a man killed by police in an anti-terror operation in Strasbourg on Saturday was a member of an ultraconservative Salafi Muslim group. Ten people were arrested in concurrent raids on anti-terror suspects in Paris and Nice.

Saturday’s operations were part of a larger investigation into the firebombing of a kosher supermarket in a Paris suburb last month, according to officials.

Three police officers were reportedly injured in the Strasbourg operation when the suspect shot at them, precipitating deadly retaliatory fire.

One person was injured and three others were treated for shock in the September 19 attack in Sarcelles.

Located to the north of Paris, Sarcelles is an area known for clashes within the immigrant community.
