11 killed when tree falls on Portugal religious festival
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleAt least 11 people have been killed when a 200-year-old oak tree fell and crushed them at a religious festival on the Portuguese island of Madeira, local media reports.
The public RTP television channel says at least 35 people were injured when the tree toppled into a crowd outside a church on the island’s southern coast.
