18 women and girls hospitalized after inhaling CO at East Jerusalem beauty salon, 3 suspects arrested

Eighteen women and girls were hospitalized with light to moderate wounds after inhaling carbon monoxide that leaked from a shoddily installed generator at an East Jerusalem beauty salon this afternoon, according to first responders.

Three suspects have been arrested following the gas leak at the A-Tur neighborhood salon, police say.

Some of the women fainted from the fumes, medics say.

The Hadassah medical center says its Ein Kerem campus is attending to five women in moderate conditions and its Mount Scopus campus is attending to six women and four girls, including seven moderately and three lightly wounded patients.

The Ein Kerem patients, eight of the Mount Scopus patients, and three other patients from Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center will receive treatment at a pressure chamber at the Ein Kerem hospital, Hadassah says.
