The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a coalition of Iran-backed militias, claims to have struck a “vital target” in the Mediterranean Sea several days ago.

A source in the group tells Al Jazeera that the target was the Karish gas rig off Israel’s northern coast.

The claims from the Islamic Resistance in Iraq — which cannot be verified — come after the IDF announced it downed a drone last week over the sea near Lebanon as it approached Israeli airspace.
