UTJ MK on High Court ruling: ‘This is a watershed’

United Torah Judaism MK Moshe Gafni reacts furiously to the High Court of Justice’s ruling that Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein must hold a vote to elect a new Knesset speaker no later than Wednesday.

“This is a watershed event,” Gafni says in a statement. “The Supreme Court judges must remember that they are going with part of the nation, but more than half of the nation is against them.”

Parties that hold a majority of seats in the Knesset — 61 out of 120 — back a vote on choosing a new speaker.
