Yael Arad, Israel’s first Olympic medalist, to head Israel Olympic Committee

Retired judo athlete Yael Arad, Israel’s first-ever Olympic medalist, has been chosen the next head of the Israeli Olympic Committee.

Arad, the silver medalist from Barcelona 1992, will be the first woman to hold the position.

Arad, 54, was the only contender for the role. She will succeed Igal Carmi.
