Yesh Atid MK says party must join wartime government, criticizes party chief Lapid

A member of Opposition Leader Yair Lapid’s Yesh Atid party criticizes his party chief for refusing to enter the emergency wartime government.
Lapid has declined to join forces with the coalition unless it removes key security-related authorities held by far-right ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben Gvir. The coalition has not considered making such a move. Fellow opposition party National Unity, headed by Benny Gantz, has entered the government.
Yesh Atid MK Elazar Stern tells Channel 12 news: “I hope we enter. I’m doing everything so that we enter the unity government, I think we need to be there.”
Asked if Lapid has erred, Stern replies: “Ask him, I think we need to enter,” adding that the answers he has received from the opposition chief on the matter haven’t satisfied him.
