Prosecutors waiting on Mossad legal opinion to file Qatargate indictments — report

Police have completed their investigation into the Qatargate scandal, but indictments have yet to be filed because the State Attorney’s Office is waiting for a legal opinion from Mossad on the case, Channel 13 reports.
According to the report, the Mossad legal submission will determine if three key suspects in the case, Jonatan Urich, Eli Feldstein, and Yisrael Einhorn, harmed state security, including Israel’s relations with Egypt, through their public relations work to boost Qatar’s image in Israel and abroad.
Urich and Feldstein are suspected of doing PR work for the Qatari government through an American lobbying company from 2022 to October 2024, at the same time as they worked as media advisers to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Likud campaign strategist Einhorn is also a suspect in the affair, with police alleging that he used his Perception strategy company to receive funds ultimately coming from Qatar to pay Urich for his work. All three are also suspected of various financial crimes.
New Mossad director Roman Gofman may have a conflict of interest in the matter, since he was Netanyahu’s military secretary at the time the activity in question, an issue that is delaying the submission of the document, according to Channel 13.
The State Attorney’s Office declined to comment on the matter.
